Driving class available for those older than 50

The AARP is offering a driver safety program for motorists 50 and older. The eight-hour course is designed to help drivers improve their skills and prevent traffic accidents. Drivers ages 55 and older may receive substantial insurance savings. The classes will be offered from 1 to 5 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Routt County Fair Board has positions available

The Routt County Fair Association has vacant positions for an at-large and Road District No. 3 representatives for the Routt County Fair Board. People interested in serving on the volunteer board, which meets once a month to plan and produce the annual Routt County Fair, should call Terry at 276-3068.

Registration open for 14th annual pentathlon

Registration is open for the 14th annual Steamboat Pentathlon and fund-raiser to be held March 5 at Howelsen Hill. The final registration deadline is March 2. Drop off registration forms at the Parks and Recreational Services office. Call 879-4300 or visit www.steamboatpentathlon.com.

Ag department goods available at LIFT-UP

U.S. Department of Agriculture commodities are being distributed at the LIFT-UP of Routt County offices in Steamboat Springs, Hayden and Oak Creek through The Emergency Food Assistance program. Eligible households can receive TEFAP foods once per quarter, and the current quarter began Jan. 1 and ends March 30. Call 870-8804 for more information about income eligibility and each office's hours of operation.

Arts Council taking entries for spring art exhibition

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is accepting entries for "The Intensive Spirit: Celebrating 22 Years of the Paper and Book Intensive," an international juried exhibition of book arts and handmade paper constructions which will be on display April 29 to June 19. The entry fee is $30 for up to three entries, or $25 for Arts Council members. Pink scarves on sale to help fight breast cancer

Pink scarves benefiting the Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Program are available at Epilogue Book Co. The scarves were made by volunteer knitters to help the fight against breast cancer.
