The members of the Soroco girls' basketball team wrapped up the regular season last weekend but not before picking up one of the biggest wins of the season against West Grand on Friday night.
"It was a team effort," coach Danelle Rivera said. "Against West Grand, all five players worked as a unit, and it paid off."
The Rams (1-6 in league play and 2-15 overall) shocked fourth-place West Grand (8-10) in a 37-30 game Friday night.
Paige Iacovetto led the team with 14 points. Kyla Schmidt scored 10, and Katie Schalnus scored six.
The Rams completed their regular-season schedule Saturday night, falling to Plateau Valley, 41-25, in the final game.
Now, the South Routt team will move on to the first round of the district playoffs. The Rams will face top-ranked Grand Valley (7-0), in Parachute, at 1 p.m. Saturday. The winner will advance to Hayden the next week to join three other teams in the district finals.
