The bandmates of the Tiffany Christopher Unit talk about lead singer, Tiffany Christopher, as if they are members of an admiring entourage.
Hillary Murray, who plays violin for the Unit, can't say enough about how much she respects Christopher.
"I really believe in her," Murray said.
According to Murray and to reviews of her concerts, Christopher has a passionate and energized stage presence. She sings everything from scat to bluegrass, backed by an ever-changing group of musicians.
The Tiffany Christopher Unit is a temporary project formed during a chance meeting at a house party in Springfield, Mo.
Bass player Brian Adams and Murray had just finished playing a show together, and Christopher showed up at the after party. They heard her playing her guitar, and the conversation turned to playing together.
Most of the music they will be playing this weekend is written by Christopher.
"We'll play a little of everything," said Murray, who described Christopher's sound as being somewhere between Coldplay and Ella Fitzgerald.
