Hayden senior named student of the month
Keenan Bruchez, a Hayden High School Senior honor student, was honored as Rotary Student of the Month at Tuesday's meeting of the Steamboat Springs Rotary Club.
In addition to his excellent grade point average, Bruchez recently was named a Wendy's Restaurant Heisman Scholar Athlete. He also was named the Western Slope League Most Valuable Player in football, after helping lead Hayden to its first undefeated league football championship.
Also a track athlete, Bruchez holds the school records in the 100-meter high hurdles and the 1,600-meter relay. He also is in his fourth season of varsity basketball for the Tigers.
Bruchez said he hoped to attend the Colorado School of Mines next year.
"When you combine a desire to succeed, intelligence and athleticism together you get Keenan Bruchez, one very special person," Hayden school counselor Danica Moss said.
