Analee Gardner-Kinnison, 1920-2005


Former Steamboat Springs resident Analee Gardner-Kinnison died Dec. 21, 2005, at the Fairacres Manor Nursing Home in Greeley. She was 85.

She was born Analee McCormick on Sept. 14, 1920, to Grace and Walter McCormick in Olin, Iowa, where she grew up. She was the youngest of eight children.

She attended the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Northern Colorado, where she earned bachelor's and master's degrees.

She taught many children reading, her love for 30 years.

She was active in the International Reading Association in Steamboat Springs and Greeley, as well as many other educational organizations.

Her children's stories were published in "We Wisdom," and "Young and Alive," and she authored two unpublished books.

Analee was a member of the Greeley Wesleyan Church.

She lived her life in Iowa and Colorado. She moved to Steamboat Springs in 1957 from Anamosa, Iowa. She moved from Steamboat to Greeley in 1968.

She married Robert C. Banks of Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1947. She later married Clarence H. Gardner in Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1968. She married Lyonel A. Kinnison on June 30, 1979, in Greeley.

She is preceded in death by her former husbands; son, Robert C., and his wife Pattie Sue Gardner; three bothers; three sisters; and son-in-law, Gregory Matt.

She is survived by her husband, Lyonel A. Kinnison, of Greeley; three daughters, Jennifer Olsen of Greeley, Julie A. Rocha and her husband William of Greeley, and Jane G. Davis and her husband Glenn of Trinidad; son, Richard Gardner and his wife Lydia of Greeley; stepdaughter, Lynnette Bristow and her husband Larry of Portland, Ore.; stepsons, Richard L. Kinnison of Greeley and Randall L. Kinnison and his wife Sharlyne of Portland, Ore.; sister, Ellen Vrooman-Felt of California; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Greeley Wesleyan Church Building Fund in care of the Moser Funeral Service at 3501 S. 11th Avenue, Evans CO 80620.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 30 at the Greeley Wesleyan Church at 3600 West 22nd Street. Inurnment will be in Linn Grove Cemetery at a later date.
