A Steamboat Springs man charged with theft and possession of a controlled substance also has an assault charge from the summer pending in Routt County.
Jeremy Patrick Allee, 24, was placed in custody Dec. 6, when he was arrested on suspicion of stealing a snowboard valued at $800 at the Steamboat Ski Area. Allee also was charged with possession of 2.1 grams of cocaine, a felony offense.
During a hearing at the Routt County Courthouse on Wednesday, public defender Trevor McFee asked Routt County Judge James Garrecht to reduce Allee's $11,000 bail on the basis of Allee's consistent local employment and support of his 4-year-old son.
Deputy District Attorney Tammy Jenson responded that not only does Allee have a pending assault charge, but that he also failed to appear in court for a hearing in that case last month.
That case, a third-degree, misdemeanor assault charge, was filed July 7 and is pending.
Colorado court records show that a third-degree assault charge against Allee in Jefferson County was dismissed in 2004. Allee pleaded guilty to criminal mischief in that case.
Jenson said in court Wednesday that Allee's father is an alleged victim in one of the assault charges.
Garrecht said bail for Allee would remain at $11,000. Allee is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 4.
A Steamboat Springs man charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust had a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Deputy District Attorney Tammy Jenson said although the charge likely will be reduced to unlawful sexual contact, a misdemeanor, the man's uncertain identity should be considered when setting bail.
"This man has nine aliases, four different Social Security numbers and seven different dates of birth," Jenson said.
The man told Garrecht he has lived in Steamboat for 15 years, owns a house, has a family and runs a business.
Garrecht set bail at $5,000 and scheduled the man to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 4.
