SharedBook enables vacation albums online

Steamboat Springs, The Canyons, Beaver Creek and Vail have teamed up with Web pioneer SharedBook to offer skiers customized memory books.

Using SharedBook's patent-pending Web technology -- part blog, part photo album, part online community -- ski enthusiasts add their material to an interactive, online resort template. Working alone or in groups, they customize their ski book online, adding as many as 800 photos and extensive text.

Visitors to Steamboat Springs can order memory books beginning this month. Visitors to The Canyons, in Utah, can order the books in January. Visitors to Beaver Creek will be able to order starting in early 2006. Vail will look to launch with a summer book.

Travel agency owner offers holiday tips

Rob Sexton, owner of Magic Carpet Travel in Steamboat Springs, offers these holiday travel tips:

Pack light and know baggage limits.

Keep your cool. Airline employees have considerable power over your travel.

Bring phone numbers for everything: your hotel, your car rental agency, your airline and friends at your destination.

Check flight status repeatedly.

When traveling with electronic tickets, carry printouts of your itinerary and confirmations from your airline, rental car, lodging or booking site.

Set your home thermostat and water heater to an energy-saving temperature before you leave.

Tell a neighbor you're going to be gone and consider leaving a key with them in case of emergency.
