Tickets on sale for annual Gambler's Ball fundraiser

Tickets are on sale for the Gambler's Ball, the annual fundraiser and New Year's Eve party thrown by Emerald City Opera.his year's theme is "Old West Saloon," and Western attire is encouraged. The event will feature a performance by Worried Men and casino gaming and prizes.ickets are $65 a person and are available at Emerald City Opera, Sheraton Steamboat Resort, All that Jazz and F.M. 'It's a Girl Thing' book discussion series continues

Bud Werner Memorial Library's "It's a Girl Thing" book discussion series for girls and women will continue this spring. This free program is open to girls ages 10 to 12 and a female partner, such as a mom, grandma, friend or teacher. Pairs may sign up for one or two discussions.

The discussions are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 3, March 3 and April 7 at the library. The library will give each pair a copy of the discussion book to keep.

Registration is required, and the registration period begins Jan. 3. Call the library at 879-0240 or stop by the children's desk to sign up. Space is limited.

Christmas tree, firewood permits are available

Permits to cut firewood and Christmas trees in the Routt National Forest are available at U.S. Forest Service offices in Steamboat Springs, Yampa, Walden and Kremmling.
