Why you should go: Branstead is one of Steamboat's best artists, and this is a rare chance to see the complete body of her work.
¤ The Usual Suspects play live jazz
When: 7 to 10 p.m.
Where: Three Peaks Grill, 2165 Pine Grove Road
Why you should go: If you were once a regular to this Friday night jazz happening, it's time to return. There's a whole new lineup, including one of Steamboat's best teenage jazz musicians.
¤ Cary Kamperschroer
When: 8 p.m.
Where: Paradigm Theater, 116 W. Main St. in Oak Creek
Cost: $5; tickets available at Bonfiglio Drug and at the door
Why you should go: Cary is going to rock the house.
¤ Steamboat Mountain Film Festival concludes with Northwest Colorado Action Film Contest for local filmmakers
When: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel
Cost: $5; or cost is included in the $49 three-day festival pass
Why you should go: They threw a three-day film festival for us! If you don't go, it won't happen again.
¤ Reception for Senior Art Showcase 2005 featuring work by Steamboat Springs High School seniors Jason Powell, Laura Brees, Suzie Ford, Alex Stegmeier, Joel Graham and Jenny Lee
When: 5 to 7 p.m.
Where: Depot Art Center, 1001 13th St.
Cost: Free. A portion of the sale of artwork will be donated to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Why you should go: See some very interesting work by students you may not know as artists.

Why you should go: There's no such thing as too rockin'.
