Registration under way for Philanthropy Days
Registration has begun for Northwest Colorado Philanthropy Days, an opportunity for nonprofit leaders in Routt, Moffat, Rio Blanco, Jackson and Grand counties to meet each other, meet Colorado funders, building relationships and attend training panels and workshops. The event costs $75 and will be Sept. 11 to 13 at The Inn at SilverCreek in Granby. Register online at www.grandfoundation.com or call (970) 887-9838.
Tickets available for GrandKids family festival
Tickets are available for the GrandKids Family Fun Festival to be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 17 at Strings in the Mountains' Music Festival Park. Entertainment includes the award-winning children's music of "Milkshake," comedy and juggling by We're Not Clowns, family games and Pickles the Clown. The event also will feature food and beverages and a drawing for prizes such as a Mexico vacation, ski weekend to Jackson Hole and Avalanche tickets. Tickets are $5 for children and $8 for adults and can be purchased in advance at All That Jazz or GrandKids Child Care Center. Event and $10 prize tickets will be available at the door. 'Girl Thing' book group starting up again
Bud Werner Memorial Library will continue "It's a Girl Thing," its popular book discussion series for girls and women this fall. This free program is open to girls ages 10 to 12 and a woman partner like mom, grandma, friend or teacher. Pairs may sign up for one or two discussions.
Program dates are Sept. 30, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the library. The library will give each pair a copy of the discussion book to keep. Pre-registration is required and begins Sept. 6. Call 879-0240.
Artists needed to help Bust sponsors design bras
Local artists are needed to help Bust of Steamboat sponsors design a bra. The bras will be auctioned off during the fourth annual "Bust of Steamboat" event, to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at Three Peaks Bar and Grill. All funds raised will be used to help uninsured or underinsured women of Yampa Valley who are in need of mammograms or financial assistance for breast cancer treatment.
Breast cancer survivors are also needed as volunteers at The Bust of Steamboat. To volunteer, call 871-7907.
Carpet Bag Book Club kits available at the library
Book clubs can now request Carpet Bags, a kit which contains 12 copies of a single book title and a notebook filled with resources, including biographical information, interviews and discussion questions. Currently book clubs can choose from nearly 20 titles. Interested book clubs can get more information by calling 879-0240, ext. 307.
