Alleged embezzlement under investigation

The Steamboat Springs Police Department is investigating the alleged embezzlement of a "substantial" amount of money from the Hampton Inn and Suites of Steamboat Springs.

Police Det. Bob DelValle is investigating the claims.

Police Capt. Rick Crotz said that the embezzlement could be on the scale of $300,000 to $500,000.

No arrests have been made in connection to the case.

DelValle said he is working with attorneys and conducting additional interviews in the case. He hopes to have more information early next week if the attorneys he is working with cooperate.

Volunteers needed for Vintage Airplane Fly-in

Volunteers are needed for the Vintage Airplane Fly-in to be held Labor Day Weekend at the Steamboat Springs Airport. Volunteers will get a Wild West Air Fest admission button and an event T-shirt. Call 879-0882, ext. 203, to volunteer.

Tour of Steamboat home kitchens is Sept. 24

The Strings in the Mount--ains Guild presents the 2005 Kitchen Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 24. he event includes a tour of six of Steam--boat's most fabulous private home kitchens, an expo featuring local design experts and tastings. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the tour. Tickets are available at Strings in the Mountains box office or by calling 879-5056, ext. 105.

Hockey association needs

coaches for 2005-06

The Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association is looking for coaches and assistant coaches for the 2005-06 season. SSYHA needs people who would be positive influences and role models, are excited to spend time teaching hockey skills to children, and are willing to commit to coaching October through March.
