The town of Hayden is asking residents to be patient during road improvements that are scheduled to begin Monday in Golden Meadows.
The project will involve breaking up bad sections of pavement and overlaying the western section of Harvest Drive from Routt County Road 53. The town also will overlay all of Clover Circle and Meadowbrook and High Meadow Courts.
The Hayden Town Board in July approved a $260,000 contract with Elam Construction for the project, which also will involve overlaying Washington Avenue east of Third Street.
Although rain could complicate the construction schedule, the town expects paving will start after Labor Day and the entire project will be finished in mid- September, Town Manager Russ Martin said.
The town is exploring a proposal to realign part of Harvest Drive near the west intersection of C.R. 53.
A landowner there is interested in redeveloping property on both sides of the road. That project may involve straightening a 90-degree angle in the road between Yampa View Estates and C.R. 53.
However, a development proposal has not come before the town, and town officials have decided to proceed with paving to the intersection.
Although the construction may cause some hassles for residents, the finished road will be a big improvement for residents, Martin said.
"When it's all said and done, it will be a great situation up there," he said.
