YVRA expansion project changes start today

Yampa Valley Regional Airport Phase 2 Terminal Expansion Project will start today. Access roads into the airport will be changed, and public parking lots will be under construction. Airport officials are encouraging travelers to have family, friends or commercial ground transportation companies bring passengers to the airport. Parking will be limited. All flights will be operating on regular schedules, and it is suggested that passengers arrive 90 minutes before schedule departures.

Tickets now on sale for annual Literary Sojourn

Tickets are on sale for Literary Sojourn, the premier festival of authors in the Rocky Mountain Region. The 13th annual celebration of books and reading will be held Sept. 10 in Steamboat Springs. This year's master of ceremonies is Nancy Pearl, a regular on NPR's Morning Edition. Guest authors are Chris Abani, Haven Kimmel, Patrick McGrath and Ruth Ozeki.

Routt County Fair taking vendor applications

The Routt County Fair is accepting applications for vendors of food, arts and crafts, home-based business items, children's items, garden items, nonprofit booths and others for the 91st annual Routt County Fair. The fair is scheduled from Aug. 17 to 21. Call Jill at 276-3068.

Discounted ride tickets available for county fair

Discounted ride tickets are available for the Routt County Fair, which is from Aug. 17 to 21. Residents can save 10 percent by purchasing tickets before Aug. 15. Tickets are available at the Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall office in Hayden and the Cooperative Extension office in Steamboat. Call 276-3068.

Ranch horse clinic to be held Aug. 19 at fairgrounds

A ranch horse clinic with Don Ulmer will be held Aug. 19 at the Routt County Fairgrounds, the day before the Routt County Fair ranch horse competition. The cost is $45. Register by calling Marianne Sasak at 879-5214.

Sponsor or design a bra for Bust of Steamboat

The Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project is looking for local artists and sponsors for the 2005 Bust of Steamboat. Design a bra to be auctioned off live Oct. 28 and help raise money for local women. All funds benefit uninsured or underinsured women of the Yampa Valley who are in need of mammograms or financial assistance for breast cancer treatment.

Sponsorships are a tax-deductible donation of $300 to YVBCAP and include two tickets to the event. This year's event will be held at Three Peaks Grill from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28. Bras will be on display in the community to raise awareness during October.
