'Janko and the Giant' will run in Sunday newspaper

Because of a publication error, the final installment of "Janko and the Giant" did not run as scheduled in the Sunday, July 31 issue of the Steamboat Pilot & Today.

The missing installment will run Sunday in the Style section of the Aug. 7 newspaper.

Discounted ride tickets

available for county fair

Discounted ride tickets are available for the Routt County Fair, which is from Aug. 17 to 21. Residents can save 10 percent by purchasing tickets before Aug. 15.

Tickets are available at the Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall office in Hayden and the Cooperative Extension office in Steamboat. Call 276-3068.

County road closure planned for today

The Routt County Road and Bridge Department will close a portion of Routt County Road 46 to replace a culvert today. The road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the intersection of C.R. 46A to the intersection of C.R. 46B. Call the road department at 879-0831.

Sponsor or design a bra for Bust of Steamboat

The Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project is looking for local artists and sponsors for the 2005 Bust of Steamboat. Design a bra to be auctioned off live Oct. 28 and help raise money for local women. All funds benefit uninsured or underinsured women of the Yampa Valley who are in need of mammograms or financial assistance for breast cancer treatment.

Sponsorships are a tax-deductible donation of $300 to the YVBCAP and include two tickets to the event. This year's event will be held at Three Peaks Grill from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28. Bras will be on display in the community to raise awareness during October.

Breast cancer survivors also are needed as volunteers at Bust of Steamboat.

Volunteers needed for Mount Werner Hill Climb

Volunteers are needed to help with the Mount Werner Hill Climb from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The race is a benefit for the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps and the Yampa Valley Science School. To sign up, call 879-2135.
