Dan R. DeLacy: Bad behavior

It now appears that the Army Corps of Engineers has opened the door for building the new justice center at the west end site.

That issue having seemingly been put to bed, there remains the bigger issue of how the elected county officials behaved during the process. Has it been in the interests of the electorate for them to refuse to release documents they filed on our behalf, to conduct proceedings in secret, and to publicly label those voters who oppose them as "terrorists" (subsequent apology notwithstanding)?

It is a serious problem that we, as responsible citizens of Routt County, must continue to examine if we are to have a government that works in our behalf. It is possible to conclude from the county leaders' past actions, and the principles of democracy, that they are neither responsible nor accountable to us.
