Newspaper looking for Editorial Board members
The Steamboat Pilot & Today is accepting letters of interest from community representatives interested in serving on the newspaper's Editorial Board. The community representatives would serve a four-month term beginning May 1.
The Editorial Board includes two community representatives and four members of the newspaper staff. Newspaper staff members on the board include publisher Suzanne Schlicht, editor Scott Stanford, city editor Melissa Roddy and reporter Tom Ross. The Editorial Board formulates the Our View opinions expressed on the ViewPoints page of the newspaper.
Readers interested in serving on the Editorial Board should send a letter of 500 words or less expressing their interest in the board to Stanford at sstanford@steamboatpilot.com or P.O. Box 774827; Steamboat Springs, CO 80477. Letters also may be dropped off at the Pilot & Today office at 1901 Curve Plaza. Nominations are due Monday.

Volunteers needed for middle school study club
Volunteers are needed for Steamboat Springs Middle School's after-school Study Club. The program runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Any help is appreciated. Call 879-1058 for information.
Arts council seeks entries for SummerArt 2005
The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is seeking entries for SummerArt 2005, a multimedia, juried fine art exhibit, to be held at the Depot Art Center. The entry deadline is May 13. Post Office selling phone cards to send to troops
There isn't any day that's easy for the mothers of servicemen and servicewomen overseas. But Mother's Day has to be harder than most. Nancy Cummins of the Steamboat Springs Post Office said window clerks will be selling AT&T phone cards for shipment to servicemen and servicewomen in Iraq and Afghanistan through today. They'll be marked "Steamboat Springs, CO" to let the soldiers know where they were purchased and sent overseas in time for Mother's Day, on May 8. Anyone interested in sponsoring a Mother's Day phone card can do so with any postal window clerk at the post office. The cards are available in increments of $10, $20 and $30.
Emerald City Opera
has events planned
Emerald City Opera has several events in the works.
