As a longtime member of the Colorado Education Association, I was surprised that they endorsed Jay Fetcher's opponent for State Senate.
Mr. Fetcher has a history of service to public schools including longtime service as a school board member. His opponent has a record of party-line votes that I don't consider to have been in the best interest of public schools. I am confident that a Senator Fetcher would be a true friend of public education.
I think that it is time for a change in leadership in the Colorado State Senate.
The Republican Party has had its turn controlling both houses and the Governor's seat. During this time they have continued to introduce bills that I consider hostile to public education. Each session has its share of voucher and tax credit bills for private education that, if enacted, will deplete funds for public schools.
It is time to give a new committed, enthusiastic candidate a turn.
I will be voting for Jay Fetcher for state senator on Election Day.
