The Steamboat Springs Police Department arrested a man on suspicion he stole a credit card in Grand Junction and was using it in Steamboat Springs.

The police arrested Albert Joseph Mersman, 41 of Craig, after he used the card without authorization to charge a hotel room at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel, Capt. Joel Rae said. A Grand Junction woman reported the card stolen and thought Mersman was in her home about the time the card was taken.

When Grand Junction police saw the card had been used for the hotel room, they asked the Steamboat police to investigate, Rae said.

More than $500 of unauthorized charges had been put on the card, and Rae thought the amount potentially could be in the thousands of dollars.

Mersman was arrested on suspicion of using a credit card without authorization and possession of a stolen credit card with other charges pending, Rae said.

The police also are looking for a woman involved in the case: Angela Seltzer, a 29-year-old woman with hazel eyes and brown hair.
