A.J. Chamberlin: Thanks, Monger
Tuesday, September 14, 2004
As president of Property Owners for Sensible Roads Policy, I wanted to write to acknowledge the fine work of Routt County Commissioner Doug Monger.
Commissioner Monger chaired a Colorado Counties Inc. task force to draft a new policy on an old law that greatly threatens private property. This repealed law, known as RS 2477, is being abused by some to claim "public highways" through private lands. My family has dealt first-hand with this issue, and I wouldn't wish our experience on any landowner.
Monger's task force came up with a new policy for CCI that is a good step in the right direction, and for that he should be commended.
It also is my understanding that Routt County recently has adopted a common sense resolution on RS 2477, as well. Citizens of Routt County, you are lucky your commissioners are taking a proactive stance on this issue and protecting your interests.
