Garnett Christopher bennetts: 1916-2004

Steamboat Springs resident Garnett C. Bennetts died Aug. 28, 2004, at the Doak Walker Care Center. He was 88.
Garnett was born May 2, 1916, in Golden to Christopher and Catherine Bennetts. He spent most of his life in Golden.
Garnett worked for the Golden Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office for 20 years. He also worked for Denver Fire and Clay and ran a construction business with his sons.
He married Myrtle May Tripp on Dec. 1, 1934. Myrtle passed away in 1994.
Garnett moved to Steamboat in 2000 and remained here until his death.
He loved spending time in the mountains, where he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, shooting guns and spending time in his garden and being with family.
Garnett was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle; and nine brothers and sisters.
He is survived by two sons, Garnett E. Bennetts of Yampa and Ronald L. Bennetts and his wife, Phyllis, of Golden; two daughters, Nancy Davis and her husband, Bob, of Longmont and Deb Werner and her husband, Loris, of Phippsburg; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Bennetts; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
A funeral service was held Wednesday at Golden Cemetery in Golden. The Rev. Ray Feindt officiated.
