Hunter education course offered in Hayden
A hunter education course will be offered in the Hayden High School Media Room from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 20 through Sept. 24. The cost is $5. Call Jim Haskins at 276-3338.
Historical Society hosts several Labor Day events
The Historical Society of Oak Creek and Phippsburg is sponsoring several Labor Day weekend events.
First is a fabric sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Storm Mountain Coffee Roasters in downtown Oak Creek. Mill ends upholstery, drapery and decorator fabric will be sold for $4 or less a yard. Dozens of designs and colors will be available to choose from at the sale. The fabric was donated to the historical society specifically for the sale.
Also, a barbecue featuring old time music is scheduled for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday in Decker Park.
All funds raised will support the work of the historical society, which is raising funds to renovate Old Town Hall as a museum.
Coed volleyball league getting started in Hayden
The town of Hayden Recreation Department is sponsoring adult coed volleyball. Anyone interested in signing up a team or playing on a team may call Lindsay at 276-3741. Games will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesdays in the Hayden High School gym. The league will run from Sept. 15 through Nov. 3. Cost is $16 per player. The last day for registration is Sept. 10. Referees and child-care providers also are needed; call 276-3741 to sign up.
