New Tiger generation has promising season

The Hayden Middle School football team ended the 2004 season a perfect 8-0.
Coach Greg Richards said it's the first time he can remember the Tigers defeating every opponent, including middle school teams from Craig and Steamboat Springs.
"They are a very talented bunch of real good kids," Richards said.
Only 23 seventh- and eighth-graders took part in the middle school football team. Richards said that though the undefeated record was impressive, he was more impressed by the players' attitudes.
"They worked really hard to reach their goals," he said. "They had a never-give-up attitude."
The closest games this year were against Steamboat and Meeker, but Hayden found ways to win both games.
The team was comprised mainly of eighth-grade players who will move up to junior varsity and varsity football next year for the Tigers.
