Advocates hosting self-defense seminar Saturday
Advocates Against Battering and Abuse has rescheduled a self-defense seminar that was canceled in October. The free class will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Steamboat Springs Middle School. Register by calling 879-2034.

Donations being sought
to send troops packages
Monetary and tangible donations are being sought for the "Support the Troops" holiday drive. Tax-deductible donations may be sent to the Yampa Valley Community Foundation, P.O. Box 774965, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477; write "Support the Troops" on your memo line. Tangible donations may be dropped off at Steamboat Real Estate Inc. or Prudential Steamboat Realty. West Routt Library District has opening for trustee
The West Routt Library District has one opening on its board of trustees. Hayden residents interested in serving on the seven-member board are asked to stop by the Hayden Public Library to pick up an application form. This is a voluntary position, and the term will begin Jan. 1. Call the library at 276-3777.
Dinner, auction to help families of teens who died
A benefit dinner and auction for the families of three teens killed in a recent car accident in Walden will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Jerilin Wattenberg Community Center in Walden. Dinner and live entertainment will accompany a live auction that begins at 5:30 p.m. and a silent auction that runs from 4 to 6 p.m. Auction items include framed artworks, horse tack, handmade crafts and other donated items. Salvation Army in need
of bell ringers for holidays
The Salvation Army needs bell ringers. Help raise money for local families in need by volunteering to ring the Salvation Army bell for one-hour shifts. Call Debbie at 879-8192 to sign up.
Visiting Nurse Association offers flu shots to infants
The Visiting Nurse Association is providing flu shots on a sliding scale, from free to $15, for infants 6 months to 23 months old and other high-risk children. For an appointment, call 879-1632.
