Dinner, auction planned
to benefit teens' families
A benefit dinner and auction for the families of three teens killed in a recent car accident in Walden will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Jerilin Wattenberg Community Center in Walden. Dinner and live entertainment will accompany a live auction that begins at 5:30 p.m. and a silent auction that runs from 4 to 6 p.m. Auction items include framed artworks, horse tack, handmade crafts and other donated items. Salvation Army seeking bell ringers for holidays
The Salvation Army needs bell ringers. Help raise money for local families in need by volunteering to ring the Salvation Army bell for one-hour shifts. Call Debbie at 879-8192 to sign up.
Routt County Fairgrounds open for horseback riding
The Routt County Fairgrounds indoor arena is now available for open horseback riding. The cost is $5 for a two-hour session, and $100 punch cards are available. Open riding schedules can be picked up at Soda Creek Western Mercantile, Elk River Farm and Feed, Horses Etc. in Craig, or the feed store in Hayden. The schedule is posted online at www.routtcountyfair.org under "Community Information -- Recreation" and "Horseback Riding."
Ski art show, auction to be held Monday to Dec. 3
Friends of the Routt Backcountry is hosting a ski art show Monday to Dec. 3, the week before the Backcountry Ball, at Centennial Hall. The art will be auctioned off during the Backcountry Ball, which will be held Dec. 4.
Middle school book fair begins Wednesday
The Steamboat Springs Middle School will host a book fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. school days, Dec. 1 to 13.
Library announces its
'Sock It to Me' program
Bud Werner Library announces its holiday "Sock It to Me" program. Teens are invited to come to the Bud Werner Library and enter a drawing to win a holiday stocking full of books, movies and other goodies. Each time a teen checks out a book or movie, he or she receives a ticket for the drawing.
SSWSC accepting junior program registrations
Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club alpine, freestyle, Nordic and snowboard junior programs begin in early December. Register at the SSWSC office in Howelsen Hill Lodge. Call 879-0695, ext. 100.
