Anna L. Stanko price

Former Routt County resident Anna L. Stanko Price died Nov. 16, 2004, at La Villa Grande Care Center in Grand Junction. She was 99.
Anna was born July 29, 1905, in Walsenburg to Peter and Anna Zubal Stanko. She moved with her family in 1907 to a ranch in the Southside neighborhood west of Steamboat Springs. Anna grew up helping her parents on the ranch, and she was one of the first students to attend the newly formed Southside School.
In October 1926, Anna married William "Bill" Price at Holy Name Catholic Church in Steamboat. Anna and Bill ranched in the Southside and Sidney neighborhoods, during which time Anna gave birth to two sons, Walter and Donald.
In 1952, Anna and Bill moved to Denver, where Bill worked until his retirement. The couple moved to Grand Junction in 1982. Bill passed away there in 1993.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Anna; her husband; three sisters, Mary, Susie and Helen; a brother, Peter; and a son, Walter.
She is survived by a son, Donald and his wife Eleanor of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; a sister, Julia Moore of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A service was held Nov. 18, 2004, at St. Joseph's Church. Burial took place in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
