Two-year-old assault reported at middle school

A third-degree sexual assault case involving a middle school girl was reported to the Steamboat Springs Police Department on Monday.

Steamboat Springs police Capt. Joel Rae said the alleged assault happened two years ago and came to light when it was mentioned during a recent school activity. Police are investigating the case, Rae said, and no charges have been filed.

Musicians sought for Christmas celebration

Musicians are wanted to participate in the Steamboat Springs Chamber Orchestra's Family Christmas Celebration. Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 and 2 p.m. Dec. 5. Violin, tuba, trombone, trumpet and bassoon players are needed. Call 879-3685.

Yampa Arts and Crafts Fair this Saturday

The 24th annual Yampa Arts and Crafts Fair is Saturday at South Routt Elementary School in Yampa.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 75 booth spaces have been assigned. Santa will make an appearance, and there will be gift basket drawings and a lunch available from the fair sponsors, Order of the Eastern Star, Edith Chapter No. 61.

CMC Student Government Association gives $300

The Student Government Association at Colorado Mountain College-Alpine Campus recently awarded $300 to the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association to assist with flu vaccinations.
