Oak Creek water treatment plant online

Oak Creek's 60-year-old water treatment plant officially has been retired. Starting a month ago, the town's new state-of-the-art plant was put online, bringing residents water pure enough to be bottled for the first time.

Holiday lights to brighten downtown

Main Street observes 'Third Thursday'

Business owners on Lincoln Avenue in downtown Steamboat Springs are famously generous when asked to provide a gift certificate for a fund-raiser on behalf of one of many local nonprofits. Now, Izabella Banas of Main Street Steamboat is offering a chance for business owners on Lincoln Avenue as well as Oak and Yampa streets to win one of three $100 gift certificates for themselves. The only catch is that they agree to put up holiday lighting in time for Main Street Steamboat's "Third Thursday" observation Nov. 18.

News in brief for Nov.12

Veterans Day potluck dinner will be Saturday A Veterans Day Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Yampa American Legion Building. All guests are asked to bring a potluck dish to share. Meat and drinks will be provided by the American Legion. After the dinner, turkey Bingo will be offered. Call Arlene Porteus at 638-4496.

City gets sales tax boost

The city had a 15.9 percent boost in sales tax for September, showing strong increases across the board.
