Annual Thanksgiving pie sale orders being taken

The skaters from the Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club are holding their annual Thanksgiving pie sale, including pumpkin, pecan and apple-cranberry streusel pies; pumpkin cheesecake and chocolate-chip cheesecake; and Parker House Rolls.

The pies, cheesecakes and rolls are baked fresh at Outlaws Restaurant and will be ready for pickup Nov. 24.

Orders should be placed by Nov. 19. If you don't know a skater, order forms can be filled out at the Howelsen Ice Arena Figure Skating Office.

Veterans Day Dinner to be held at 6 p.m. Saturday

A Veterans Day Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Yampa American Legion Building. All guests are asked to bring a pot-luck dish to share. Meat and drinks will be provided by the American Legion. After the dinner, Turkey Bingo will be offered. Call Arlene Porteus at 638-4496.

Concerned citizens group meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday

A group of concerned citizens is hosting a gathering to share concerns and feelings regarding the recent election and to discuss ideas for channeling energy into advancing a more progressive agenda for the future. The meeting is at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Perry-Mansfield School Pavilion. Call 879-3111.

YVMC celebrating 5 years with an open house

Yampa Valley Medical Center is celebrating its first five years with an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 150 adults to arrive. Free injury screenings, blood pressure checks, paraffin hand dips and five-minute massages at SportsMed will be offered, as well as face-painting and children's activities, refreshments and tours. Other events include a visit with Heeling Friends volunteers and the firefighters of Truck 62 from the Steamboat Springs Fire Department and a demonstration of "Pat," the new patient simulator. Reservations being accepted for Ski Ball

Reservations are being accepted until 4 p.m. today for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Ski Ball and Auction. The event is at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel.

The event begins with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction and is followed by a three-course dinner, live auction and dancing to the live music of Exit 232.

Reservations are $125 per person. Supporter tables, which seat 10, can be reserved for $1,500.

Proceeds from the Ski Ball and Auction benefit the athletes of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.
