Pottery sale Nov. 27 and 28

Members of the Steamboat Clay Artisans will be holding a holiday pottery sale at the Depot Art Center on Nov. 27 and 28. The sale will feature new work by local artists. The sale will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 27 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 28. Call 846-9349.

Pottery class Wednesdays

Jonathan Kaplan will be offering an Intermediate Throwing and Glazing class from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings It will be a five session class, running through Dec. 8.

Students must have the basic skills down -- centering, opening and throwing. Focus will be on improving skills and developing a sense of form to create a balanced pot.

Tuition is $200 and includes all materials, firings, use of tools and open studio time.

Design board, win money

A prospectus is available for participants in the third annual "Snowboard Art III" competition, sponsored by Ride Snowboard and ArtLink.

The deadline for entries is Jan. 15. New this year, artists may submit a maximum of two designs, and they must be digital.

Last year's Best of Show winner, Adam Reitz, not only pocketed $1,000, but he also had his artwork printed on a limited-edition run of five Custom Ride snowboards.

The first of the limited edition snowboards was given to Reitz. The others will be auctioned off to raise funds for The Surfrider Foundation's "Snowrider Project" and ArtLink.

This year's grand-prize winner will receive $1,000 cash and a one-of-a-kind Ride snowboard featuring the winning artwork. The first runner-up will receive $750 and a pair of Ride bindings. Second runner-up will receive $500 and Ride boots, and third runner-up will receive $250 and a Ride jacket and pants combo.

The top 50 entries will be printed and exhibited locally at Centennial Hall from Feb. 14 to March 18.

Online silent art auction

An online silent art auction for work by Erika Osborne is taking place on www.artlinksteamboat.org through Nov. 26. Proceeds benefit Ranchland Heritage preservation projects.
