Vacation Bible School set at Yampa Bible Church

Lava Lava Island Vacation Bible School program for ages 3 through sixth grade will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m., June 7 through 11, at the Yampa Bible Church in Yampa. Registration is free and takes place at 8:30 a.m. today at the church. Call 638-4411.

All LIFT-UP sites closed for Memorial Day

All LIFT-UP sites will be closed today in observance of Memorial Day. The food bank, thrift store and donation center will be open as usual Tuesday.

Basketball fundamentals clinic being offered

A Fundamentals of Basketball camp will be offered June 7 through 10 at Steamboat Springs High School. Camp for third- through fifth-graders is from 9 to 11:30 a.m., while sixth- through eighth-graders meet from 12:30 to 3 p.m. The cost is $45 and includes a T-shirt and basketball shorts. Auditions for 'Jolly Holidays' are Saturday

Dance auditions for "Jolly Holidays," put on by the Oak Street Performing Arts Company, will be Saturday at the studio at 326 Oak St. Dancers ages 5 to 10 will audition at 10:30 a.m.; dancers 11 and older will audition at noon. Arrive early to register. Call 871-1880.

Health Resource Center changing its hours

The Community Health Resource Center at Yampa Valley Medical Center will change its hours of operation for the summer. Beginning Tuesday, summer hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

'A Chorus Line' auditions to be held June 14-15

Auditions for "A Chorus Line" will take place from 5 to 8 p.m., June 14 (dance) and 15 (acting and singing) at Steamboat Springs High School. Community actors, dancers and singers, including an off-stage chorus, who are 14 and older are sought for the inaugural summer show July 22-24. Everyone auditioning should prepare a 30- to 60-second monologue and part of a song. Volunteers needed for

24-hour bike race

The Rio 24 Hours of Steamboat bike race is seeking volunteers to help with the event June 12 and 13. Course marshals, emergency personnel, timers, aid-station workers and other volunteers are needed. Register at Sore Saddle Cyclery or call 879-1675.

The Routt County Gymkhana Club begins meeting June 10 at the Brent Romick Rodeo Arena, offering barrel racing, pole bending and fun for all ages and abilities. Call 879-2963.

Volunteer weather

The National Weather Service is looking for a volunteer weather observer to take and record daily weather readings in Steamboat Springs; specifically, in the area to the northeast of U.S. Highway 40 at an elevation of around 6,770 feet.The volunteer will be supplied with a digital thermometer to record high and low temperatures, and a rain gauge to record rain. Water forum to be held Wednesday in Hayden

The Yampa River Basin Water Forum is from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hayden High School auditorium, sponsored by The Nature Conservancy, Community Agriculture Alliance, Colorado River Water Conservation District and Yampa River Basin Partnership. The registration fee is $15 and includes dinner. RSVP to 879-4370.

The Colorado Riparian Training Cadre, an interagency, interdisciplinary team, is inviting private landowners, government employees and other interested residents to attend a two-day training session, July 27 and 28 in Steamboat Springs.
