Yampa Valley Recycles seeks volunteers for event

Help Yampa Valley Recycles and Whistle Pig Willy save the West from waste. In 2002 there were 30 million obsolete computers. This year, that number is projected to rise to about 150 million. Please do not throw your computers in the landfill. YVR will be co-hosting a computer recycling event June 5. Volunteers are needed to make this happen. Call 870-7575 to volunteer. Volunteers will be given complimentary YVR bike bottles.

Tibetan teacher, author

to speak at Olympian Hall

The community is invited to hear acclaimed Tibetan teacher and author Tsoknyi Rinpoche give a public talk at 7 p.m. Saturday at Olympian Hall. Rinpoche's direct yet light-hearted style vividly communicates the ancient teachings of the Buddha to the modern mind. The event is sponsored by the Buddhist Center of Steamboat Springs. The event is free, but there is a requested donation of $15. For additional information, call 871-6135.

YVMC Auxiliary sponsors blood drive Thursday

A blood drive sponsored by the Yampa Valley Medical Center Auxiliary is from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday at YVMC. Bonfils Blood Center will conduct the drive. Appointments are required. Call Barbara Hughes at 870-6267 to schedule a donation time.

Grant fund applications are due by Friday

Applications for Routt County Museum and Heritage Fund capacity-building grant funds are due in the Routt County Board of County Commissioners' Office in the Courthouse Annex on Friday. Qualified projects must relate to historic preservation and must be sponsored and administered by a qualified museum entity within your district. The approved museum entities are the town of Yampa, Oak Creek and Phippsburg Historical Society, Tread of Pioneers Museum, Hahn's Peak Historical Society, Historic Routt County and the Hayden Heritage Center. Applications are evaluated on a set of standardized criteria available through the museum entities and specified in the application packet. Volunteers needed for 23rd Steamboat Marathon

Volunteers are needed to help June 5 and 6 for the 23rd annual Steamboat Marathon. Volunteers will receive an official event T-shirt and lunch on race day. Call 879-0882, ext. 203.

New Pony Club forming, will meet in Hayden

The Down Valley Pony Club, a satellite of the Yampa Valley Pony Club, is forming and will meet Saturday mornings in Hayden and weekday mornings in Craig and Steamboat Springs as needed.
