LIFT-UP Donation Center has moved to Lincoln

The LIFT-UP Donation Center has moved to 1744 Lincoln Ave., in the Taylor Building on the west end of town. The center will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. Donating gently used clothes and household items provides LIFT-UP with goods to sell in its Community Thrift Store on Oak Street, supporting LIFT-UP emergency programs and supporting Cerebral Palsy on the Front Range with leftover goods. American Legion Auxiliary to give out red poppies

The American Legion Auxiliary volunteers will distribute red, handcrafted poppies honoring America's war dead May 28 in front of Safeway and City Market.

Regis Nursing counselor to advise future nurses

A Regis Nursing admissions counselor will be advising future nurses on the Colorado Mountain College/Regis Steamboat-based nursing program held on CMC campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. Call 800-388-2366, ext. 4958, to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.

Master gardeners are available to give tips

Master gardeners are available to answer questions and give tips from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays in May and Thursdays and Fridays in June.

The gardeners just completed a 10-week course on area gardening in Northwest Colorado through the Colorado State University Cooperative Extension.

People with questions can call the extension office at 879-0825 to talk to or leave a message for a master gardener. The gardeners also are available for site visits.

Master gardeners can help with most questions concerning gardening, from a tree that is not doing well, to insects that are taking over a garden, to houseplants that do not thrive.

Ski & Resort Corp. hosting Art On The Mountain

The Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. is hosting the third annual Art On The Mountain in Gondola Square. Dates are July 3 and 4, July 31 and Aug. 1, and Sept. 11. Anyone interested in participating on any of these dates can call 871-5382.

Veterans can receive information on veterans' benefits by calling 879-3547 or stopping by the Routt County Veterans Affairs Office in Sundance at Fish Creek, next to the driver's license office. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Bring Discharge Form 214 for registration with the county and application for VA programs. mammograms, treatment

The Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project has funds available through the end of the year to help pay for mammograms or breast-cancer treatment for women who cannot afford such services. Call 879-1632.

Stock Dog Challenge to be held Memorial weekend

Catamount Ranch and Club will host the 2004 Steamboat Stock Dog Challenge during the Memorial Day weekend.

There will be three days of sheep dog competitions from May 28 through 30. Events also include a cattle dog trial May 31.
