Steamboat Springs man arrested on DUI charges
A 20-year-old Steamboat Springs man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence after driving his vehicle off the road and over an embankment Saturday morning.
Daniel Franis Minahand III lost control of his vehicle in the 2300 block of Storm Meadows Drive, police said, at about 3:31 a.m. Saturday. Minahand was taken to the hospital by ambulance, treated for a dislocated shoulder and released later that day, police said.
When released, he was booked into the Routt County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and possessing alcohol as a minor.
The vehicle, which had nearly rolled, was damaged.
Applications for grant funds are due May 28
Applications for Routt County Museum and Heritage Fund capacity-building grant funds are due in the Routt County Board of County Commissioners' Office in the Courthouse Annex on May 28. Qualified projects must relate to historic preservation and must be sponsored and administered by a qualified museum entity within your district. The approved museum entities are the town of Yampa, Oak Creek and Phippsburg Historical Society, Tread of Pioneers Museum, Hahn's Peak Historical Society, Historic Routt County and the Hayden Heritage Center. Applications are evaluated on a set of standardized criteria available through the museum entities and specified in the application packet. Yampa River Basin Water Forum to be held in June
The Yampa River Basin Water Forum is from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 3 at the Hayden High School auditorium. It is sponsored by The Nature Conservancy, Community Agriculture Alliance, Colorado River Water Conservation District and Yampa River Basin Partnership. Training session held
for assessing wetlands
The Colorado Riparian Training Cadre, an interagency, interdisciplinary team, is inviting private landowners, government employees and other interested residents to attend a two-day training session, July 27 and 28 in Steamboat Springs, on how to assess riparian/wetland condition. A primary objective of this training is to develop a common vocabulary and understanding of riparian areas among people who work on the land. The session includes one day in a classroom setting and one day visiting streams in the field. There is no tuition, but space is limited.
