ASC investor, media relations officer leaves

Erik Preusse, who has served as the investor relations and media relations officer for American Skiing Co., has left the company.

Senior financial analyst David Hirasawa has assumed responsibility for those functions.

Hirasawa's background is in investment banking.

Preusse, who also served as a financial analyst for the parent company of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp., said he has no immediate plans for employment.

East West lands deal in Crested Butte

East West Resorts has reached an agreement to manage the Grand Lodge Crested Butte, in Crested Butte effective June 1.

East West manages several properties in Steamboat Springs including Waterstone, Eagle Ridge Lodge and Townhomes, and three groups of condo buildings at Storm Meadows.

This management change in Crested Butte follows the acquisition of the 247-room Sheraton Hotel in Mount Crested Butte by a partnership between Gart Properties of Denver and East West Partners of Beaver Creek.

The hotel, renamed Grand Lodge Crested Butte, is located in Crested Butte's Mountain Village, adjacent to the main base area, the lifts and the transportation center.

Beginning this month, $5 million will be invested in improvements to the property.

Personal income

sluggish in Colorado

DENVER

Personal income in Colorado grew last year at one of the slowest rates in the nation, leaving the state 46th, according to government figures.

Per-capita income in Colorado rose 1.7 percent in 2003 to $34,283, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Connecticut remained No. 1 at $43,173.

Last year, Colorado ranked last in income growth.

''Things are getting better but not very fast,'' said Daphne Greenwood, economics professor at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. ''Historically, Colorado economic indicators lag the national economic cycle.''
