Board hears petition

Annexation proceedings can move to next stage

The Hayden Town Board did not discuss developers' request to annex 676 acres into the town as part of a planned 900-acre subdivision. Instead, the board simply passed a resolution stating the developers can move on to the next stage of the annexation proceedings.

A formal public hearing on West Routt Properties' annexation request was scheduled for April 15.

West Routt Properties is proposing the annexation for a 900-acre subdivision and 18-hole golf course called The Villages at Hayden. The project formerly was called Sunburst Ranch, but a complete change in the subdivision's layout and development group spurred a name change.

Before the April public hearing, the Hayden Planning Commission will review and discuss the annexation petition March 11 or April 8 to make a recommendation to the Town Board about how to proceed.

Looking at another annexation, which has been in the planning stages since May, the Town Board approved a 3.61-acre annexation at Yampa Valley Regional Airport for a rental car maintenance facility with the condition that the petitioner, Aaron Wiltfong, provide details of the operations at the facility.
