to perform

Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory students will perform in chamber music ensembles throughout their stay at the camp at the Lowell Whiteman School this summer. The conservatory's free concert series starts at 7:30 tonight with a faculty recital at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Strings in the Mountains musicians and the Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory are holding a collaborative community concert Wednesday as part of the Strings in the Mountains music festival. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at Festival Park. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children.

Fund-raiser for Advocates

The 19th annual Decadent Desserts fund-raiser for Advocates Against Bettering & Abuse takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Catamount Golf Clubhouse. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at All That Jazz, Off the Beaten Path Bookstore, Cantafio's or at the door. Admission includes all the decadent desserts you can eat, hors d'oeuvres, sparkling wine, live music by The Jazz Quartet and access to a cash bar. More than 20 local chefs will be making desserts, which will be judged by a visiting chef from Denver. Call 879-2034.

Ceili Society teaching dance

The Yampa Valley Ceili (kay-lee) Society, which teaches tradition Irish dances, will hold a public dance session from 6 to 8 tonight at Northwest Ballet, 326 Oak St. Individual classes cost $5, or join the society for a $30 membership fee and attend all 2004 Ceili Society classes and events. Artists hold flea market

Oak Street Performing Arts Company hosts its third annual Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot. Proceeds will help raise money for scholarships and upcoming performances. Call 871-1880.

Arts Council seeks artists

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is calling for artists to participate in the Strada D'Arte event Aug. 6 and 7 during the Beaux Arts Festival. Strada D'Arte is a traditional form of Italian street painting where artists would cover church courtyards with renderings of the Madonna and other religious scenes. For the Beaux Arts Festival, artists will design and decorate a concrete square (either 3'x3' or 6'x6') using ground pastel chalk. This is typically a full-day project. Interested artists who want a chance to show off their talent and imagination should call Dona Steele 879-9038 or the Arts Council at 879-9008 for information. A meeting for interested artists will be held at 5:30 p.m. July 6 at the depot, 1001 13th St.

'La Boheme' tickets on sale

Tickets for the Emerald City Opera's production of Puccini's "La Boheme," Aug. 6 and 8, are on sale at the Emerald City Opera box office, 320 Lincoln Ave., Suite H downstairs in Wells Fargo Bank and at Off the Beaten Path Bookstore. Call 879-1996.
