Beaux Arts Festival Strada D'Arte event needs artists
The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is calling for artists to participate in the Strada D'Arte event Aug. 6 and 7. Strada D'Arte is a traditional form of Italian street painting -- artists would cover church courtyards with renderings of the Madonna and other religious scenes.
For the Beaux Arts Festival, artists will design and decorate a concrete square (either 3-by-3 feet or 6-by-6 feet) using ground pastel chalk. This typically is a full-day project. Interested artists who want a chance to show off their talents and imagination should call Dona Steele at 879-9038 or the Arts Council at 879-9008. A meeting for interested artists will be held at 5:30 p.m. July 6 at the Depot Art Center.
