Former Oak Creek resident Charles Reese passed away May 20, 2004, at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Louisville. He was 95.
Charles was born Dec. 5, 1908, in Tucker, Utah, to Gomer and Janette Sneddon Reese. He graduated from high school in 1926.
He married Elizabeth C. DeSantis on Dec. 1, 1933, in Murry, Utah. He came to Colorado in 1933 from Frontier, Wyo. He moved from Oak Creek to Longmont in 1959.
Charles was a coal miner for 50 years, and he worked as a superintendent at Imperial Coal Company for eight years before his retirement in 1977.
While in Oak Creek, Charles and his wife ran an ice cream parlor.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers for 25 years, a member of the Elks Lodge for 28 years, and a lifelong member of the Rocky Mountain Coal Institute.
Charles was an avid fisherman; he also liked camping and gardening.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Gomer, Louis and Tom; and a sister, Bessie Reese.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Charles Reese and his wife, Lyn, of Berkeley, Calif.; a daughter, Bonnie Janette Musgrove and her husband, Rod, of Salinas, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Vail and Nicholas Reese.
Graveside services and interment were held May 24, 2004, at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
