Goodbye party planned

for assistant police chief

A goodbye party for Assistant Police Chief Art Fiebing has been moved from today to June 10. It will remain at the Smokehouse and will start at 5 p.m. Public Safety Director J.D. Hays invites the public to stop by and wish Fiebing farewell.

Colorado Women's Charity Shoot set for Saturday

The Colorado Women's Charity Shoot, sponsored by the Women's Recreational Shooting Association and the Routt County Rifle Club, is Saturday, followed by a couples' shoot Sunday. Registration for the event, which benefits the Breast Cancer Awareness Project, begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Routt County Rifle Club and costs $70 for women and $50 for participants younger than 21. The cost includes loaner firearms, ammunition, trophies and lunch. Call 879-0130.

Yampa River water forum held Thursday in Hayden

The Yampa River Basin Water Forum is from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hayden High School auditorium, sponsored by The Nature Conservancy, Community Agriculture Alliance, Colorado River Water Conservation District and Yampa River Basin Partnership. Get materials on raising more money at library

More than 60 people from various organizations attended last week's Raising More Money workshop, sponsored by the Non-Profit Excellence Project, to learn how to create a pool of lifelong donors. To support workshop attendees and those interested in the concepts behind this fund-raising strategy, the Bud Werner Memorial Library has purchased the books "Raising More Money: A Step-by Step Guide to Building Lifelong Donors" and "The Point of Entry Handbook" as well as the videos "Re-igniting Your Board" and "Raising More Money: Building Lifelong Donors." All materials are available for checkout with a library card.

LIFT-UP seeking gently used furniture, clothing

Donations of gently used furniture, household goods and clothing are needed for LIFT-UP of Routt County's Extravaganza fund-raiser, to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 19 at the LIFT-UP Thrift Store, 718 Oak St. Donations are tax-deductible and can be dropped off from noon to 6 p.m. June 18 at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Yampa Valley Recycles saving West from waste

Help Yampa Valley Recycles and Whistle Pig Willy save the West from waste. In 2002 there were 30 million obsolete computers. This year, that number is projected to rise to about 150 million. Do not throw your computers in the landfill. YVR will be co-hosting a computer recycling event Saturday. We need volunteers to make this happen. Call 870-7575 to volunteer. Volunteers will be given complimentary YVR bike bottles.

Volunteers needed for 23rd Steamboat Marathon

Volunteers are needed to help Saturday and Sunday for the 23 annual Steamboat Marathon. Volunteers receive an official event T-shirt and lunch on race day. Call 879-0882, ext. 203.

New Pony Club forming

The Down Valley Pony Club, a satellite of the Yampa Valley Pony Club, is forming and will meet Saturday mornings in Hayden and weekday mornings in Craig and Steamboat Springs as needed. Hayden Huck Finn Day begins at 9 a.m. Saturday

Hayden Huck Finn Day begins with registration at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hayden Town Park. The day includes a fishing derby, Colorado Division of Wildlife activity stations, Huck Finn and Becky Thatcher look-alike contests and a barbecue, sponsored by the Hayden Recreation Department and the DOW.
