— A 29-year-old man reportedly was stabbed during a fight outside the Royal Hotel late Sunday night, and police have a suspect in custody.

The victim, whose name was not released, was stabbed three times in the torso area at about 11:30 p.m., with at least one wound to the lower right side of his back, Routt County Sheriff's Sgt. Doug Scherar said.

The man was taken to the hospital, and was conscious and responsive at some point during the night, Scherar said. No information on the man's medical condition was released.

Christopher Michael Padilla, 32 of Yampa, was arrested as a suspect in the stabbing, Scherar said, and is being held at the Routt County Jail. Because court was closed Monday, no bond had been set. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault, a Class 3 felony.

An ambulance picked the victim up and took him to the hospital before police arrived. An investigator then met with the victim at the hospital while police covered the incident in Yampa. The incident is under investigation.
