Skiers keep edge in Beaver Creek

Tony Cesolini, Joey Marias and Emily Colin led the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club at a series of Rocky Mountain Trophy Series speed events in Beaver Creek earlier this week.

Cesolini placed second in the final men's super-G race Wednesday. Ski Club Vail's Ian Lockhead edged the Steamboat skier at the finish line to win.

Steamboat's Drew Roberts placed third, Marsh Gooding was ninth and Marias was 16th in the race.

On Tuesday, Marias placed second in another super-G race, which Lockhead also won. Drew Roberts was third in that event followed by Cesolini in sixth and Sean Dixon in ninth.

Emily Colin was the top Steamboat finisher in the women's super-G races. She placed fifth both days.

Ski Club Vail's Krissie Poehling won the first day, and her teammate Katie Beardsley won the second day.

Top Steamboat finishers in the first race included Tina Roberts in eighth, Lindsay McClure in ninth and Annie Vranizan in 11th. Suzanne Allbright placed 12th,

Maddy McLean was 15th, and Heidi Hillenbrand finished 18th

In the second race, top Steamboat finishers were McClure in sixth, Vranizan in 10th and Roberts in 12th. Britt Bahle was 14th, Allbright was 16th and Hillenbrand finished 20th.

The races are scheduled to continue this week with a pair of downhill events.
