Once again the Salvation Army would like to thank everyone who gave of their time or money to make this year's Christmas Kettle Campaign a success. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we raised $8,649, which is $1,800 more than last year, to help families with things such as dental bills, prescription medications, utilities, car repairs and school supplies. In 2003, the Salvation Army helped more than 60 families who had nowhere else to turn. Because of the success of the kettle campaign, we will be able to help at least as many families in 2004.
Our campaign depends upon volunteer bell-ringers. Eighty-eight children and adults stood in the cold for one-hour shifts to ring the bell. Special thanks to all those who "adopted a day." Thank you to all of our volunteers and to the businesses who allowed us to ring bells at their locations.
The spirit of giving in our community will bring hope to many people in need over the coming year.
