Skiers make the most of super-G races

Ashley Stamp swept a pair of super-G races at Mount Werner on Sunday highlighting another impressive showing by the members of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club's Alpine team.

Stamp laid down the fastest time of the first run in the J-4 girls field with a time of 52.66 seconds. She was followed by teammate Cassady Roberts in second at 53.12 and Snow Range's Anna Marno in third with a time of 53.40.

Stamp also won the second race of the day for skiers between 11 and 12 years of age by ripping down the face of the Sitz/See Me run in a time of 51.25.

Once again, Roberts followed in second at 51.58 and Marno in third at 52.28. Amanda DeVos also had a top-10 finish coming in fifth.

The Winter Sports Club also fared well in the older J-3 girls class, which featured skiers 13 and 14 years old.

Jennifer Allen won the first race of the day in a time of 50.38. Teammate Priska Sorensen followed in second, and Eldora skier Allyn Marzulla placed third. Steamboat's Lauren Letson was fourth, and Vikki Brown came in ninth.

In the second event, it was Sorensen taking the top spot with a time of 49.12. Allen was second and Marzulla came in third for the second straight race.

Steamboat's Letson was fifth and Brown crossed the finish line with the eighth-fastest time.

In the boys races, it was Snowy Range skier Max Marno dominating the J-3 class. He edged Steamboat's Ryan McConnell in the first race to take the top spot.

Other top Steamboat skiers included Hig Roberts in third, Jordan Bernard in fifth, and Jake Supple in 13th.

Max Marno also took first in the second race of the day followed by McConnell in second and Loveland's Jeffrey Hartman in third. Top Steamboat finishers included Hig Roberts in fourth, Jordan Bernard in fifth and Tony Rende in 12th.

Quantum racer Taylor Lynch took first in both of the older J-3 races. He was followed by teammate Conrad Schmidt in the first race and Steamboat's Dylan Roberts in the second. Dylan Roberts also was third in the first race.

Other top finishers in the first race included Steamboat's Jace Wirth in sixth, Ramsey Bernard in eighth, Wiley Thayer in ninth and Taylor Coe in 10th.

Ian Landy (11th), Nelson Kane (12th), Sean Forney (13th), Michael Lyon (14th) Kristopher Allen (15th), Joshua Fix (16th) Jimmy Hostetler (17th) and Ryan Coe (18th) also raced to top finishes in the division.

In the second race, Wirth was seventh, Thayer came in eighth, Ramsey Bernard was ninth and Landy came in 10th. Taylor Coe (11th), Fix (12th), Allen (13th), Ryan Coe (14th), Lyon (15th), Forney (16th), Hostetler (17th) and Kane (19th) also finished in the top 20.
