Saturday turned out to be a perfect day for Steamboat Springs Alpine director Tony Nunnikhoven.
He was greeted by sunny, blue skies; no major glitches in the first of three super-G races the Winter Sports Club will host at the Steamboat Ski Area and, to top it all off, the members of his team dominated the results.
"It was a perfect day for ski racing," Nunnikhoven said after the final J-3 racer crossed the finish line of the age-class race Saturday afternoon.
The first super-G race, for athletes ages 11 to 14, took place on the Sitz/See Me racecourse.
Steamboat's Jennifer Allen and Dylan Roberts won the J-3 races. Cassady Roberts also won the J-4 girls event.
Allen recorded a time of 53.09 seconds on the 22-gate course. She beat Eldora skier Allyn Marzulla, who placed second, and her teammate Jasmine Cooper who took third.
Other top Steamboat finishers included Lauren Letson in fifth, Priska Sorensen in sixth and Vikki Brown in ninth.
Dylan Roberts cruised through the boy's race with a time of 50.82. Breckenridge skier Conrad Schmidt of the Quantum Ski Team finished in second at 51.67, and Steamboat's Jace Wirth was third at 52.31.
Other top Winter Sports Club skiers included Sean Forney in sixth, Ramsey Bernard in seventh, Ian Landy in ninth and Wiley Thayer in 10th.
Steamboat also made a strong showing in the J-4 races Saturday.
Winter Sports Club skier Cassady Roberts won the girls race with a time of 55.51.
Her teammate Ashley Stamp finished second, and Winter Park skier Jessie Miniat was third.
Max Marno, from the Snowy Range team, won the boy's race in a time of 53.74. He was followed by Loveland racer Jeffrey Hartman in second and Steamboat's Ryan McConnell in third.
Winter Sports Club racer Hig Roberts was fourth, Jordan Bernard was fifth and Cody Wirth came in 12th.
