Former Oak Creek resident Robert A. Brown died Jan. 7, 2004, at Graham Hospital in Canton, Ill. He was 79.
Robert was born Jan. 3, 1925, to Lena Houser and Jacob Brown in Harland, Kan.
He was an Army paratrooper during World War II, serving in the European and African theaters.
Robert worked at Union Power in Denver as an electrical lineman. He worked in 23 countries throughout his career.
He married JoAnn Derry Nayden-Brown on Feb. 6, 2003.
Robert was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Canton, and he was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Oak Creek.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers.
He is survived by four sons, two of whom were adopted; one daughter; three brothers, Leonard Brown and Kenneth Brown of Osborne, Kan., and John Brown of Oklahoma; one sister, Alberta Brown-Davis of Osborne; and his wife, JoAnn.
A memorial service was held Saturday at the Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton, Ill. A military service was scheduled to follow at graveside.
