After renting an Alpine Vista townhome during a vacation to Steamboat Springs, New Jersey residents Bill and Jamie Paley soon decided to purchase a unit in the complex.
The Paleys wanted to enroll their children in the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, and one reason they decided to buy an Alpine Vista unit was that it is on the Steamboat Springs Transit route, they said.
"Our kids can get on the bus to and from the mountain, so we're not the ultimate taxi drivers," Bill Paley said.
The complex's solid structures and finishes, along with cost, sealed the deal, he said.
"This place went for about $500,000, and the only thing comparable was close to $600,000," Paley said.
Alpine Vista Townhomes are on Alpine Vista Court, off Village Drive. Two of its three buildings, constituting six of 10 units, are complete. A final four-plex is in the works.
Only one of the 2,800-square-foot units is still available, RE/MAX Realtor Stephan Baden said. The asking price is $529,000.
Every unit at Alpine Vista Townhomes is three stories with four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, a heated two-car garage, radiant floor heat, rustic oak floors complemented by a slate entryway, hand-textured walls, granite countertops, high-end stainless steel appliances, alder trim huge vaulted ceilings and large windows.
"This is probably the best deal per square foot around," Baden said. "It's less than $200 per square foot."
The combination of materials gives townhomes a classy Old West style. But modern architecture and design is evident in the notched-out storage and entertainment areas.
Like most new construction in Steamboat, the townhomes feature views of Mount Werner and the South Routt valley. There also is a central hot tub amenity.
The project will be complete in July, Baden said.
