Feet of snow bring

Miller crew to Steamboat

Warren Miller Entertainment will send its top cinematographer to Steamboat Springs early next week to film the 55th annual feature film of the legendary Warren Miller film series.

"Steamboat has the best conditions, by quite a margin, of any major resort in Colorado. The film crew at Warren Miller rearranged their travel schedules to get into Steamboat early next week to capture some of the greatest skiers and riders enjoying our tremendous snow," said Andy Wirth, vice president of sales and marketing for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp.

The Warren Miller crews will feature Steamboat's 2002 Olympic silver medalist, Travis Mayer and other top skiers, riders and legends from the Yampa Valley and the United States. The Warren Miller film crews will be shooting in Steamboat through mid-January.

"I grew up watching the Warren Miller films, so it's great to have this chance to ski in the film on my home mountain -- Steamboat," Mayer said.

Steamboat has received more than 13 feet of snow this season. The resort is reporting a 51-inch base at mid-mountain with 143 trails, 20 lifts and 2,939 acres open.

Author Beer to teach

writing courses at CMC

Edith Lynn Beer, author of five books and more than 200 published articles, will teach two creative writing courses, "Writing a Book that Sells" and "Writing an Article that Sells," at Colorado Mountain College.

"Writing An Article That Sells" is a course for those interested in writing for the Internet as well as for print. The class will explore how Internet writing techniques differ from those for print. Students will investigate how to market their writing on the Internet, in print publication or when it is possible in both.
