Perley C. Green: 1915-2004

Longtime Routt County resident Perley C. Green died Feb. 27, 2004, at the Eagle Ridge of the Grand Valley Care Center. He was 88.
Perley was born May 29, 1915, in Last Chance to Chester and O'nita Green. Perley grew up in Last Chance and lived there until 1934 when he moved to Routt County. Perley married Bonnie J. Howard in 1948 in Routt County. She died in 2003.
Perley ranched at Trout Creek and in the Twentymile Park area. He served as deputy assessor for Routt County for many years and also worked as a guide and outfitter. Perley drove school buses for the Steamboat Springs School District and retired from that job. After his retirement, Perley moved to Grand Junction in 1999.
He was a member of the Farmers Union and NFO. Perley enjoyed visiting with all of his neighbors and life to the fullest.
Perley was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie J. Howard. Survivors include two sons, Terry Green of Steamboat Springs and Billy Green of Craig; three daughters, Connie Wagner of Steamboat Springs, Anita Paquette of Winnemuca, Nev., and Jeanette Carmack of Palisade; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. March 2 at the Steamboat Springs Christian Center, preceded by visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial at the Oak Creek Cemetery will follow the service.
