Sterling awards to be announced at luncheon

The winner of the first of five $5,000 Sterling Anniversary awards will be announced at a luncheon March 3 at the Steamboat Grand Resort. The Yampa Valley Community Foundation and the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. will sponsor the luncheon. The cost to attend is $15, and reservations are being accepted by the YVCF at 879-8632 until March 1.

The March 3 award will be given to an organization in the recreation field. YVCF plans to give four more Sterling Anniversary awards in the fields of education, health and human services, arts and culture, and environment. The deadline for nominations for the education field of interest awards is May 3. Entry deadlines for the remaining three awards have not yet been announced, however nominations are being accepted for all categories at this time. Nominations should be e-mailed to publisher@steamboatpilot.com or they may be faxed to 879-7888. Nominations should include the mission statement of the nominee and a brief description of why the organization should be selected for the award.

Bereavement group meets on Tuesday evenings

Mending A Broken Heart, a five-week bereavement support group, meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Visiting Nurse Association offices beginning March 2. The group will provide education and support to anyone who has suffered the death of a loved one. Please call Katy Thiel at 879-1632, ext. 33, before attending your first meeting.

Yampavalley.info seeks artists for logo designs

Yampavalley.info, an online information source for the Yampa Valley, is seeking artists to participate in a contest to design a logo for the Web site. Submissions, due March 31, should include the URL "yampavalley.info." Entries will be posted on the Web site April 1, and a winner will be announced April 14. The winner will receive $250.
