Strings seeks volunteers for summer festival

Strings in the Mountains is looking for volunteers to help with this summer's festival. Help is needed with ushering and running the box office and concession stands. Call Annie at 879-5056, ext. 100 or 103, before March 1.

Perry-Mansfield to hold scholarship auditions

Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp will hold open scholarship auditions March 6 for Routt County children ages 10 and older. Dance auditions are from 9 a.m. to noon at Northwest Ballet, 326 Oak St., with registration at 8:30 a.m. Theater and musical theater auditions are from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Steinberg Pavilion at Perry-Mansfield, 40755 Routt County Road 36, with registration at 1:30 p.m.

Dancers will participate in ballet, modern and jazz classes. Theater students should prepare two monologues, each about 2 minutes long. Musical theater students should plan to perform two contrasting songs from musical theater literature. Call 879-7125.

Art groups present

'The View from Here'

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council and the Steamboat Artists Group present "The View from Here," an exhibit and sale of paintings by the Steamboat Artists Group, on display through March 21 at the Depot Art Center. Call 870-9008.

Great North Routt Chili Cook-off is March 14

The second annual Great North Routt Chili Cook-off will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. March 14 at Steamboat Lake Outfitters. Organizers are looking for judges and other volunteers. Call 871-1979.

County residents get into Tread of Pioneers free

Routt County residents receive free admission to the Tread of Pioneers Museum. The museum at Eighth and Oak streets is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Artist Mike Wight is displaying his photography at Off the Beaten Path Bookstore through February. Off the Beaten Path is at 56 Seventh St., just off Lincoln Avenue.

Registration open for Kaleidoscope workshops

Registration is open for Kaleidoscope Art Workshops for Kids' Blues Break program, "Mask making and tribal arts." Classes are from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 23-27 at the Depot Art Center. The cost is $130 for Steamboat Springs Arts Council members, $150 for nonmembers. Call 879-9008.

Children younger than 12 get in free to concert

Children younger than 12 will receive free admission March 4 for general seating at the Steamboat Dance Theatre's 32nd Annual Dance Concert.

The concert features shows March 4, 5 and 6 at the Steamboat Springs High School Auditorium. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 for reserved seating, $15 for general admission and $8 for seniors and students in general admission seating only.
